Dwarven Guidemarks - Goral Fen

Goral Fen, or Guidemarks, are an ancient dwarven symbology, typically used in the underground to mark the direction and destination of a given passage. They are subtle marks carved with guile so that only those with stone cutting can read them. Even when pointed out without the ability, the marks seem nothing more than natural, meaningless forms. Their nature keeps enemies from taking advantage of the information the guidemarks hold.

There are dozens of different marks, and though the meanings of many of the older ones have been lost, they remain a valuable tool against the enemy. Dwarven PCs are familiar with most symbols: signs for navigating the mountains and the underground. Symbols that indicate the shortest local route to the surface, to water or to a fortified refuge, and even marks that tell of hidden passages or warn against ways that lead only to danger.
